School Resource Officer

School Resource Officers (SROs) are sworn law enforcement officers who are responsible for providing security and crime prevention services in the school environment. The responsibilities of the SROs are similar to regular police officers in that they have the ability to make arrests, respond to calls for service and document incidents that occur within the schools.

School Resource Officers typically have additional duties to include working with guidance counselors and other student support staff to assist students, and to provide services to students involved in situations where referrals to service agencies are necessary. They also assist with conflict resolution efforts, mentoring and conducting presentations on youth-related issues. Additionally, our School Resource Officers assist the school with emergency response plans, promote a safe educational environment and act as a positive role model.

The Glassboro School Resource Program has been in place for nearly two decades and has had a positive effect on the community.
